Make a Monetary Donation

Cancer research relies heavily on charitable donations for funding. You can support the fight against cancer by making a donation to either the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the UBC Cancer Association to help fund the annual Cuts for Cancer event. Donations can be made in person at the UBC Cancer Association events, by mail, or online.

Donate by Mail

Cheques should be made to "Canadian Cancer Society". If you would like a tax receipt, please write us a little note in the envelope indicating this.

Online Donations and Pledges

Now, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, anyone around the world can be a part of Cuts for Cancer 365 days a year. Here the steps you can take to take part in Cuts for Cancer wherever you are in the world.

  1. Go to the Canadian Cancer Society's Independent Fundraising Events page, select "Join an Event", and then "Cuts for Cancer" as the event to join. Then click on "Continue".
  2. Fill in the form on the next screen. Your personal information you enter will be confidential under the Canadian Cancer Society. This is also where you can make your online donation if you are not collecting pledges.
  3. Once you are registered, you will have joined the Cuts for Cancer online event and you will have your very own personal donation webpage. This is what you will use if you are collecting pledges.
  4. You can customize your own donation webpage with the limited options available. You can also upload a maximum of 2 pictures. You may want to upload your before and after pictures of yourself when you get your hair cut.
  5. Family and friends can be directed to your personal donation webpage and to sponsor/pledge you for your brave feat. Contact them by email with the link to your webpage or call them up and tell them about it. All donations will be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society and tax receipts will be mailed immediately for those who pledge a minimum of $10 CDN. Of course, there is no donation deadline for your family and friends, so they can pledge you even after you have cut your hair.
